Melting Pot opened its first Saudi Arabian location this past February in Riyadh, the country's capital and financial hub. It was a very successful opening in a booming metropolis and on a street known for its dining, fashion and retail offerings. Riyadh is a hip, modern setting, and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Street, nicknamed Thalia Street, is part of an eclectic community.
International expansion doesn't happen overnight, and much research and relationship-building goes into opening in another country and becoming a good neighbor in these communities. With six international locations of Melting Pot now open – in Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates – and more than 10 others in development across the globe, we are proud of the adaptability and flexibility our brand has shown. Because spending quality time with family and friends over meals is a value shared across cultures, Melting Pot's unique, interactive dining experience translates well to other countries.
Mira Foods, our franchisee and well respected restaurant group in Saudi Arabia, plans to develop an additional four Melting Pot restaurants in the country over the next few years. The group is currently considering sites in Jeddah and Riyadh to develop a second location later this year.
“The Saudi fondness for communal-style dining such as fondue, as well as their progressive ‘foodie’ desire to try new types of foods, has led to this being one of the most successful international openings for Melting Pot,” said John Westland, international franchise business manager for Melting Pot. “Melting Pot's interactive dining experience translates well across cultures that value spending quality time with family and friends over meals.”
Additional franchise opportunities in the MENA region are currently available in Lebanon, Jordan andEgypt. In order to fuel growth, Melting Pot is actively seeking qualified franchisees and hosts complimentary franchising webinars.
